Established in 1822, between the 1920s and '50s this firm sold the Grayson line of small back-geared engine lathes. At least one of those lathe models was rebadged from the London machine maker Ross & Alexander (their "RandA" model). We have also seen a wood lathe bearing an "E. Gray & Son" label that was perhaps a rebadged machine from another maker.
E. Gray & Son's primary business was as a dealer in tools, machinery and supplies to jewellers, watchmakers, model makers and other trades working at small scale.
