From patent records. The partners were Samuel R. Smith, Edward Myers, and Anthony Schnier. Smith had been with Lane & Bodley since at least 1858, and Myers had been with that firm since at least 1867. Smith left them in about 1877, and Myers left in about 1882. The first patent we have found assigned to Smith, Myers & Schnier was applied for in mid-1882 and granted in early 1883. So far, the latest patent we have found that was assigned to this firm was granted in 1889.
