This firm was in business 1875 through 1884, and probably longer. They primarily made spindle shapers. They also retailed machines from other manufacturers.

  • Listed in a work published by the United States Centennial Commission, Official Catalog of the 1876 International Exhibition, as a maker of woodworking machinery.
  • Articles in 1875 and 1879 issues of Manufacturer & Builder.
  • Journal of the Franklin Institute, Vol. LXIX", January-June 1875. No. 2, p. 98: Medals awarded at the Franklin Institute Exhibition: J. H. Blaisdell & Co. Sash boring and grooving machine. Honorable mention.
  • From Reports and awards for the Centennial Exhibition, 1876: "J. H. Blaisdell, Philadelphia, Pa., U. S. UPRIGHT MOULDING AND SHAPING MACHINES. These machines are simple and can be produced at a low price. The upright moulder exhibited by this firm is a useful machine for several purposes."
  • In an article on the American Institute Fair, the November 1883 issue of Manufacturer & Builder says that "the J. H. Blaisdell Machine Works, of this city [i.e., New York], exhibit some of Goodell & Waters' wood-working machinery, also the Blaisdell molder." The following year they reported that Blaisdell "displayed a number of wood-working machines of his manufacture."
