A Heavy Band Resaw.
The resaw herewith illustrated is manufactured by J. A. Fay & Egan Co., 224-244 W. Front street, Cincinnati. The manufacturers have made a specialty of band sawing machinery for years. The band resaw here shown has established a wide reputation and because of its durability in standing up to the heaviest kind of work day in and day out. The reason for its durability is obvious after one examines the frame, which is extremely heavy and the feeding mechanism is the strongest imaginable. The claim is made that this is the only band resaw that will straighten an uneven board. The manufacturers have accomplished this result by supplanting the feeding mechanism at the top as well as at the bottom by a complete frame of housing, and backing up screw to feed rolls, which prevents spreading of the rolls and sustains them against strain in cutting warped or uneven stock.
This No. 104 band resaw has capacity up to 24 inches and if necessary will admit of material 28 inches between the rolls or saw to the center of 16 inches.
The guides are the manufacturer's new hardwood block type, placed above and below the material being worked. They are adjustable to be set close to the cut. The adjustment of the upper guide is by a lever in easy reach of the operator. This new guide is so constructed that a hinged board rests on each side of guide facilitating splitting soft stringy material, such as cottonwood, and preventing slivers getting between guide and blade.
The machine is fitted with the manufacturers’ patent knife edge device, which maintains an even tension on the saw blade, instantly taking up slack, The latest improvement on this machine is application of annular ball hearings to the upper wheel shaft, which insures much smoother running and eliminates all troubles found with the old style of box.
For further information concerning this machine, those interested are invited by the manufacturers to write for large illustrated circular. |
