Fig. 131 illustrates the 1898 pattern 7-in. centre lathe of the Putman Machine Co. in which these gears are embodied. Note the compact method of storing the change gears under the bed.
Feeds are regulated both in English and American practice by nests of spur-gears, but only to a limited extent here. |
