These images are from a book written by John Richards, co-founder of Richards, London & Kelley. The scrollsaw has a patent date of June 28, 1870, which probably corresponds to patent 104,770, http://www.datamp.org/displayPatent.php?number=104770. That patent is for a bandsaw, but it appears that the tensioning mechanism depicted therein was also used on the scrollsaw. |
