Image Description:
Oram's Combined Hoop-flaring, Punching and Shearing Machine — The illustration herewith presented shows the new improved combined hoop-flaring, punching and shearing machine, manufactured by John S, Oram, Cleveland, Ohio. Of it the manufacturer has the following to say: "In the combined hoop-flaring, punching and shearing machine, the rolls are chilled very hard and ground perfectly round and smooth and double geared. The punching arrangement is made extra strong and with large wearing surfaces, free from small pins or weak points. Punches and dies are made to standard size and kept in stock. A noticeable improvement in this machine is the use of a strong rubber spring under pressure screw on top of bearings, by use of which we avoid danger of breaking the machines should the operator carelessly or otherwise, screw down too hard, or should the iron vary to any great extent in thickness. "Pulleys are 22 x 4 inches, tight and loose; speed 200; horse-power, 3; weight, 1,200 pounds; floor space, 2 x 3 feet; capacity, 4,000 to 6,000 hoops per day. Boxed for export 1,800 pounds; cubic feet, 45." Mr. Oram always gives courteous attention to all inquiries for information concerning any of the machinery manufactured by him, and his catalogue can be had for the asking.
