Greenwood Sawed Stave Planer — The illustration herewith presented is that of Greenwood's latest improved sawed stave planer. In describing the planer its manufacturers, the Rochester Barrel Machine Works, say: "This machine shows our latest heavy pattern planer for planing the inside of sawed staves We also make a similar machine for planing the outside of the staves. When desired we can furnish extra bed, rollers and cylinder to convert the inside to the outside machine or vice versa.
This machine is extra heavy and rigid and does excellent work, with a higher capacity than any other planer on the market. The endless bed on which the stave rests carries the stave in a straight line through the machine, which avoids thin-edge staves. Wet or dry the staves are fed through without slipping or stopping in the machine, which is a common occurrence and annoyance on roller-feed stave planers.
The cylinder has bearings l 7/16 diam., 8" long, running in self-oiling dust-proof boxes. Roller bearings are 1 7/16 diam., 4¼" long and have Babbitted boxes held down by adjustable enclosed steel springs.
Duplicates of nearly every part, completely machined, roller boxes Babbitted, etc., can be furnished and guaranteed to fit.
Counter shaft has self-oiling boxes that can be removed without disturbing pulleys or hangers. Weight with counter shaft, 1700 lbs.
