The "Hisey" Portable Electrical Driven Hand Drill — One of the latest, contributions to labor saving devices, by the application of electricity, is the portable electrical driven hand or breast drill, made by the Hisey-Wolf Machine Co., Cincinnati, O., which is here illustrated. It is designed to take the place of the old style hand drill for metal or wood, and is driven at a much higher speed without exhausting the strength of the operator. Its range of operation is practically unlimited, as being light in weight, it can be carried anywhere and any desired length cord can be used. The motor is enclosed and suitably geared to develop the necessary power up to the capacity of the drill. An advantageous feature is that the chuck spindle is so arranged as to allow drilling on a line with the base of the motor, and by corner drilling. This machine is under perfect control of the operator at all times, as the motor is provided with a switch to start and stop it. It is located near the vertical handle as shown in illustration, and is easily reached by the index ringer. It is equipped as a breast drill by removing the end handle and inserting a breast plate and the additional side handle. These different parts are supplied and interchangeable. These drills are made in three sizes, of O to1/4,", O to 3/8", and O to 1/2" capacity, and weigh 14, 16, and 27 pounds respectively. The 1A" capacity has two speeds, suitable for large or small holes. They are sent out complete ready for work and their value will readily be recognized by any one having a large amount of drilling to do. Besides these hand drills, the Hisey-Wolf Machine Co. are putting on the market a portable electrical driven grinder, which will be described in one of our later issues. |
