A similar machine, supplied by Alfred Herbert, Ltd., Coventry, is illustrated in fig. 268. One tool head only is shown mounted on the cross rail, but the same machine may be provided with two heads, in which case the rail is made of greater length to enable either head to be traversed over the whole width of the table. The tool is mounted upon a hinged flap, which works between strong side cheeks, and the head can be swiveled for planing V edges, suitable graduations being provided around the rim of the base to facilitate the set- ting. The tappet reversing gear at the side of the planer bed, and the feed rack at the side of the upright, are clearly in the illustration. |
