Mossberg, Frank, mfr.; b. Wermland, Sweden, Nov. 8, 1858; s. Nils and Sara (Persson) Mossberg; ed. country schs. and Chalmers Polytecknic Inst., Gothenburg, Sweden; came to America, 1882; m. Jennie D. Polsey, of Pawtucket, R.I., Apr. 29, 1886; 1 child. Florino Mildred. Began as draftsman with Brown & Sharpe Mfg. Co., 1887, continuing 2 yrs.; entered mfg. as Mossberg Mfg. Co., Attleboro, Mass., 1889; incorporated as Mossberg & Granville Mfg. Co., Providence, R.I., 1897; incorporated as Mossberg Roller Bearings Co., Ltd., London, Eng., 1898; founded firm of Frank Mossberg Co., mfrs. spl. machinery and tools, punching dies, metal stampings, automobile parts, etc., at Providence, 1899, and since pres. of the company; business moved to Attleboro, 1900, and so continues: v.-p. standard Machinery Co.; dir. Metallic Shell & Tube Co. (Providence), Krow Scale Co. (New York); pres. Uneedus Trading Co., New York. Pres. Chamber of Commerce, Attleboro, 1913-15; dir. Nat. Chamber of Commerce of U.S., Nat. Automobile Assn., Mass. Automobile Assn. Formerly chimn. Rep. Com., Attleboro. Mem. Am. Soc. Mech. Engrs., Engineers' Club (New York), and Swedish engring. clubs of Worcester, Chicago and New York.
