One of the most useful attachments for the planer is the Farwell milling attachment, the largest and smallest sizes of which are shown in Fig. 1. This tool is adapted to a wide range of work, as by simply revolving the spindle, the cutter may be clamped at any angular position as well as vertical and horizontal. Besides the adjustments mentioned, there are innumerable applications, some of which are shown in the group, Fig. 2.

This device may be attached to any planer, and each outfit includes a countershaft and table feed mechanism. The latter regulates the table feed for milling and is erected in connection with the ordinary planer countershaft. It is engaged and disengaged instantly so that no appreciable time is lost when changing from planing to milling, or vice versa. The attachment is built in four sizes and may be supplied single or duplex by the Adams Co., Dubuque, Iowa.
