10-inch Toolmakers’ Engine Lathe.
WITH SCREW AND BACK GEARS, ALSO SLATE TAPER ATTACHMENT.
SWINGS 10¾ inches over the bed and 4¾ inches over the carriage. The front bearing of head spindle is 1½ inches diameter and 3 inches long. The cone has five grades, largest diameter 6½ inches, for 1½-inch belt. The hole through the spindle is 13/16-inch diameter. The lathe is furnished with drawback collets, hardened and ground, to take from 1/8 inch to ½ inch round stock, advancing by sixteenths; change gears, to cut from 8 to 192 threads per inch, or 4 to 96 threads per centimeter; stationary and follow rests; one-half dozen each ¼, 3/8, and ½-inch cut center reamers; one No. 2 New threading tool-holder with single point cutters, twelve of U. S. form, one of sharp V, and one double offset and one center turning cutter. Also, one each knurling tool, with three pair knurls; square threading tool-holder, with one-half dozen cutters; No. 1 Woodbridge lathe tool, with eight cutters; No.0 Johnson’s cutting-off tool, with one dozen blades, screw pitch gauge, thread and center gauge; one center collet; one female center; 4-inch and 6-inch three-jaw combination chuck, each with two sets jaws, and one 5/16-inch Almond chuck. 4-foot bed takes 20 inches between centers. Beds are made 4 and 5 feet long. Countershaft has friction pulleys, 8x2¾-inches, to run 160 revolutions per minute. Weight, including countershaft, pan, and change gear rack, 1,250 pounds.
This lathe is made for use of watch toolmakers and others, who require very accurate work. |
