15-Inch Hand Lathe
The cone carries a 2¼-inch belt. The head-spindle has large bearings, in cast-iron boxes, lined with Babbitt-metal of the best quality. The face-plate and centers interchange with those of the 13-inch engine-lathe. To facilitate drilling, a hand-lever is furnished for the foot-stock, in addition to the hand-wheel and screw, or without hand-wheel and screw, at an advance in the price. The size of pulleys on the countershaft will be made for the speed required. Countershaft and T-rests are included with the lathe. Back-gears will be furnished to order. Lathe with bed 4 feet long receives 1 foot 7 inches between centers, and weighs 600 pounds. Beds made from 4 to 8 feet long. Hand-Lathes, swinging 12 inches, are of similar construction, beds made from 4 to 6 feet long. The holes through the center of the spindles are. for 12-inch lathe, 7/16-inch diameter; 15-inch lathe, 9/16-inch diameter. Countershafts should have speed as follows: For 12-inch lathe, tight and loose pulleys, 6 or 8 x 2¼ inches, 200 to 250 revolutions per minute; for 15-inch lathe, tight and loose pulleys, 10 x 2¾ inches, 200 revolutions per minute. |
