Wheland Machine Works, which claimed that it was "established 1866", made sawmills and edgers plus steam engines. A 1920 catalog gives the name as The Wheland Co. Under that name they lasted until at least 1936.

  • The U. S. Forest Products Laboratory published a booklet dated March 1936, Operating small sawmills, methods, bibliography, and sources of equipment by C. J. Telford. A table lists the makers of various types of equipment, including circular sawmills, band sawmills, edgers, and planers. This company was listed as a maker of circular sawmills, band sawmills, edgers, and steam boilers and engines.
  • Batory has a 1920 catalog.
  • A correspondent reports that Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA has a Model 22 Wheland Saw Mill. The paper work list it as received in 1931, and list cost as $14,509.
