If you have information to add to this entry, please contact the Site Historian.

Founded 1933, this company was located in Bristol, right on the border between Tennessee and Virginia. This company made belt sanders.

In about 2005 Oakley's assets were acquired by Colonial Machinery Sales Inc. of Elizabethton, TN. New equipment is still available. They have original documents, historical information on each machine Oakley made, and replacement parts. For more information, contact

Information Sources

  • In 1955-56 Hitchcock's Wood Worker's Digest Directory, which gives location as Bristol, TN; the web site gives Bristol, VA. It is a single town that is on the state border.
  • The Oakley website disappeared sometime in or shortly after February 2004; it had last been updated in March 2002. The Internet Archive can be used to view archived pages from the defunct Oakley site. In 2024 we received notice of a new Oakley website, TheOakleyCo.com.
  • Thanks to Chris Rushing for providing us the information on Colonial's acquisition of Oakley.
