Founded in 1893, the American Machinery Co. of Grand Rapids was the predecessor to the Oliver Machinery Co. See Dana Batory's first book on Vintage Woodworking Machinery for the history.
One large trimmer they produced was labeled, "Manufactured for the American Machinery Co. by Bardons & Oliver, Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A.". (The Oliver of Bardons & Oliver was no relation to the Joseph Oliver of Oliver Machinery Co.)
