Established in 1854, John Best & Sons Co. was located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This company was a manufacturer of portable (ca 1870's), vertical and horizontal stationary steam engines, and hoisting engines. By 1891 they were operating as Best Steam Engine and Boiler Works, and they were also making sawmills.
