Jackson Machine Tool Co. made turret style milling machines. Sometime between 1921 and '27 the name changed to Jackson Machine & Tool Co.

• 1919-08-30 Michigan Manufacturer and Financial Record, page 18, has an article stating that Jackson Machine Tool Company was one of 15 machine tool manufacturers in Michigan listed as such by the War Industries Board. The following history came from information provided by the manufacturers mentioned.

  The Walcott Lathe Company

  The Walcott Lathe Company of Jackson was established by George D. Walcott and son in 1881. At that time they manufactured shapers, lathes and other machine tools. Mr. Walcott died in 1902 and his son in 1905. In 1907 the concern was incorporated under the name Walcott & Wood Machine Tool Company, and in 1916 the name was changed to the present one. Since 1914 the company has been making lathes exclusively, the Jackson Shaper Company, established in that year, having taken over the production of Walcott shapers.

  The Jackson Machine Tool Company was established in 1913 to manufacture a special die sinking machine, and was an offshoot, so to speak, of the Walcott Lathe Company. The Jackson Shaper Company, the Jackson Machine Tool Company and thee Walcott Lathe Company are owned by practically the same stockholders.

  Officers of the three concerns are as follows:
  Walcott Lathe Company—M. C. Townley, president; D. G. Kimball, vice-president and general manager; N. R. Townley, secretary-treasurer.
  Jackson Machine Tool Company—M. C. Townley, president; W. M. Thompson, vice-president; D. G. Kimball, secretary-treasurer.
  Jackson Shaper Company—D. G. Kimball, president; L. E. Broughton, vice-president and treasurer; Lucina Broughton, treasurer.
  The capital stock of the Walcott Lathe Company is $700,000.

• October 1920 The American Drop Forger lists Jackson Machine Tool Co. as a provider of Cherrying Machines, Automatic Die Sinking Machines, Dies and Tools, Die Sinking Machines, and Tools.
