After William Lodge left Lodge & Davis he joined up with Murray Shipley in 1892 to form Ohio Machine Works, which was reorganized 6 months later as the Lodge & Shipley Machine Tool Co. The firm became known for their high quality and often very large lathes. Some machinists refer to them affectionately as "Large & Shapely". The company was liquidated and ceased operations in 1987.
Monarch Lathes purchased the rights to the lathes built by Lodge and Shipley. They still make parts and rebuild existing lathes and can be contacted at
