The company has manufactured grinders and hones for automotive rebuilding and reconditioning since at least 1927. The firm was acquired c. 1948 by Waterbury Tool Division of Vickers Inc., which sold Hall to Baker Brothers Inc. in 1955. By 1958, the name was Hall-Toledo, Inc.

Baker Bros. Inc. has acquired certain assets of the Hall automotive equipment line of the Waterbury Tool Division of Vickers Inc. Hall valve-seat grinders and allied equipment will be made hereafter at Toledo under the name Hall-Toledo.
