Originally operating as C. A. Herriman, in mid-1905 the name changed to C. A. Herriman & Son. Under both names the company manufactured woodworking vises that were especially popular in schools in the midwest. A 1919 ad said that South Haven Foundry & Machine Co. of South Haven, MI, was the sole manufacturer of Herriman vises.
