Abstract:
My invention relates to an improved feedbox for horizontal cane-mills, the object of the invention being to provide an improved feedbox which will prevent back-squirting of juice regardless of the size of the canes being fed and the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts.
Claim:
A feed-box for horizontal cane-mills whose sides and bottom extend in nearly to face of rolls and having a projection at right angles or nearly so to the box-bottom, to keep juice from squirting back: of box as cane is fed between rolls.

Abstract:
My invention relates to an improved gearing for horizontal cane-mills, the object of the invention being to provide an improved gearing which will economize space and in which the gears are fully protected.
Claim:
In gearing for cane-mills, the combination with a bed-plate, of parallel driving and driven shafts mounted on said bed-plate, for each of said shafts, a pinion on the driving-shaft between the bearings thereof, a gear on the driven shaft between the bearings thereof and meshing with said pinion, a housing inclosing said pinion and gear, an internally-toothed gear to be secured to the shaft of the large crushing-roll of the mill, a pinion on the inner end of the driven shaft and meshing with said internally-toothed gear, and a pulley on the outer end of the driving-shaft. |

My invention relates to an improvement in crosshead guides or boxes for engines, pumps and other machinery, the object being to provide a guide or box, adapted to receive and support one or a plurality of cross heads, the box being made in sections so that it may be removed and replaced without disturbing any other part of the engine or pump.
Claim:
A guide for a cross head, consisting of a box open at the top and having a removable cover, the bottom, sides and top of the box forming guides and supports for the cross head, the box being adapted to be detachably secured to a support. |

Abstract:
One of the features of the invention is the provision of a hydraulic pump and circuit, in which the pump is provided with chambers which operate concurrently in the circuit during the initial operations of the load during which a relatively large quantity of liquid is being delivered at a relatively low pressure; together with an unloading apparatus automatically responsive to the pressure being delivered, whereby one of the pumping chambers is operationally disconnected from the circuit and permitted to idle when a preset maximum of this low pressure condition is exceeded.
Claim:
A hydraulic system including a pump having multiple pumping chambers with inlet and outlet valves, a main conduit connected for directly receiving the liquid pumped from one of said chambers, a varying load device connected to the main conduit whereby varying back pressures are established in the main conduit, a second conduit and a valve device therein for selectively delivering to the main conduit the liquid pumped from another of said chambers and for discharging said latter liquid without passage to said main conduit, and a pilot device responsive to the pressure in the main conduit and connected to said valve device for procuring operation of the same from said delivering condition to said releasing condition upon the event that the pressure in said main conduit exceeds a preset maximum. |
