Post Boring Machine No. 1
The accompanying cut represents a post boring machine offered by the Fox Machine Company, Grand Rapids, Mich. The machine is designed to fasten to a post, which may be done by the use of four 4x4 inch coach screws, in a position ready to belt up. The machine is provided with a tight and loose pulley, 7 inches in diameter and 3-inch face, to make 600 revolutions per minute. The machine is sold complete as shown in the cut, including the quadruple bit. The manufacturers state that the four hole bit can be used in any boring machine, and that while the bit is made regularly with a ½ inch shank, he shank will be made to fit any spindle, if of a different size. A boring machine known as No. 2, is made similar to the one shown, but with the table. |
