Steedman St. Louis, MO A full-page ad from Curtis Pneumatic Machinery Co., in the 1926-01-07 Motor Age, page 184, features their shop air compressors and mentions their "Patented Centrifugal Unloader, consisting of a compression control release, operated by a speed governor built in the fly wheel. If the motor slows down or stops for any reason whatever, the Curtis unfailingly unloads the Compressor so that when it starts again it will not start against tank pressure, thus protecting the motor, belt and compressor from any possible damage due to starting strains."
The invention is an improvement on patent 686,778 to use variation in air-flow rather than in tank pressure to govern the unloader action.
