This maker is known from an 1895 ad for match, toothpick, basket, barrel, and veneer machinery.

  • Ad in the May 1889 issue of "The Wood-Worker". Specialties: match, toothpick, basket and barrel machinery. The Blakeslee veneer machine... we also make veneer slicers and other specialties."
  • The January 1895 issue of The Wood-Worker carried an ad for this firm: "Geo. F. Blakeslee, Prop. SPECIALTIES: Match, Toothpick, Basket and Barrel Machinery.  The Blakeslee VENEER MACHINE.  The Most Practical in the Market.  Manufactured in sizes to meet all requirements.  We also make VENEER SLICERS and other Specialties."
  • The 1874 work, Wiley's American iron trade manual of the leading iron industries of the United States, lists Blakeslee & Bro. as an engine and iron foundry.
  • The July 1883 issue of Manufacturer & Builder mentions a steam engine built by the Blakeslee Manufacturing Co. of Duquoin, IL.
  • A web page mentions that in 1882, George F. Blakeslee & Co. was a hardware store in DuQuoin.
  • A search failed to reveal any patents to G. F. Blakeslee.
