Manufactured by the Albany Hardware Specialty Mfg. Co. in Albany, WI in the early 1900's. The patent date for the unique variable speed drive is October 20, 1908. Serial number is 1299. The very unique design of the drive enables selection of spindle speeds without having to turn off the motor. Simply select the desired speed using the speed change handle and engage the drive while the motor continues to run. Spindle speed range is 268rpm to 2140rpm, which works well for metalworking as well as some woodworking operations.
