This is a crank machine to set saw blades. The name plate say's "The Machinery Company of America" - "Grand Rapids, Michigan" and the "Covel Plant". Based on the informationon on Covel and The Machinery Company - it puts this machine between 1916 and 1928 (based on the name tag) and the when the Machinery Company took over Covel. Everyting works smoothly - it's just a real interesting piece of mechincal history. I don't have much saw equipment, so I thought someone that did would like to add this to their collection.
Whe you turn the crank, three little metal tabs alternate and tap on a small anvil - to set the saw blade. They just click away very smoothly. |
