I bought this machine last year as a rainy day project. I cleaned and bagged the parts and located manuals, then put everything on a shelf where it rests to this day. Too many projects and not enough time so I'm passing it on to the next person.
Coincidentally, the prior owner took it apart it 12 years ago with a plan for restoring it. It sat in the same place in his garage for 12 years. I checked the parts against the diagrams (thanks OWWM) to verify all major parts/components were accounted for. With the exception of some screws/nuts I believe it is 99% complete.
Key features: • Original cast iron stand and art deco styling • late 40's/early 50's around time Rockwell bought Crescent Machine and Delta bought Rockwell (or vice versa). Has the resulting mix of company name badges • Includes original handles, knobs, guards, name and serial plates, etc • Extended table length with rabbeting edge • Original Delta 3 Phase 1.5 HP motor (mfg by Marathon) included; motor is untested but it’s in good cosmetic condition with a clean spec plate and original cast iron shaft cover. Motor specs as follows o HP: 1.5 o Phase: 3 o Frame: 182 o Type: TS o RPM: 1725/1425 o Volts: 220/440 o Amps: 3.8/1.9
Issues and repairs needed: • Knurled nuts for attaching the front panel of the base are not included. On eBay regularly for $10-$20, or use regular nuts as provided • One tab on the cast iron stand (to which the jointer normally bolts) was broken and replaced with a heavy L bracket; repair should be hidden under the jointer when assembled • The ways show wear, so some shims will be needed to align infeed/outfeed. The ways have a couple spots where brazing was added which I assume was for the same purpose.
This is either a good project or great parts donor – your choice.
Asking $375.00 obo
Trades considered: 12” delta lathe/cast stand, lathe accessories, HSS gouges/tools, 1” x 8 tpi face plates, scroll chuck, vintage power tools (Walker Turner, Delta, Rockwell, other? ) |
