Ornate foot-operated miter trimmer believed made by SW Hall. Also believed to be very early as there is no mention of the Hall patent which was shown prominently on the hand-operated trimmers. The only marking on the casting is: "HALL" followed by an area blanked out in the casting, then "P,A". The base features ornate intertwined vines. Areas of the base show faint remnants of pin-striping.
Truly a beautiful piece -- more art than tool. Deserves a good home.
I acquired the tool during the liquidation of the Lapp Planing & Lumber Co in LeRoy, NY. The business was started in 1852. |
