Model 2 New Britain Chain Mortiser. It likely dates from around 1915. This no.2 model is considered the “hoss” of the industrial grade chain mortisers, this on making doors and windows for a half century without ever “whining”. I have the matching 4-V pulley for the motor and extra used chains and bars. I also have several industrial 3-phase, 230 VAC motors.
Patents: Aug 18,1908 #896,355; 896,356. Oct 31, 1911 # 1007, #180. 2600 lb.

Comments:
This industrial vintage ca.1915 chain mortising woodworking equipment is one-owner, in working order when taken from the original line-shaft pattern-making shop adjacent to a steel foundry, built upon the founding of Anniston, Alabama, a planned "model city" by the Noble brothers, whose foundries in Rome GA were burned down by Sherman on his march to the sea, subsequently founding this city in the 1880s, the general lumber operation turned in 1915 to include doors and windows manufacturing as a complete millworking enterprise. Several other pieces are available out of the shop from this early period and later.
