This saw is older model 40-50's made for Sears Craftsman. It needs a polishing but it is complete with original angle miter, fence, sliding miter, and saw guard, blade, 1 1/2HP motor. These table/radial saws are of high quality. They compare with saw's in the >$500 range today.
This saw is made of sheet steel, including the table, and there is not much cast iron in it. Nonetheless, with a 1-1/2 HP motor attached it is quite heavy and requires 2 to lift. Lockable casters have been added to aid with moving around a shop. The saw is called a "builder's saw" because of its capability of cutting reproducible angles with rafters and other framing lumber on job sites. It has an auxiliary miter gauge which can be locked in place, and the blade and motor can be drawn through the lumber, sort of like an upside-down radial arm saw. It also has a standard miter gauge and a fence for traditional table saw functions. For those purposes the motor can be locked in place on its rail with a couple of pins. |
