Lima 3 Phase Motor with 4 Speed Gear Box We took this assembly from a lathe we’re converting to an alternate power arrangement. Don’t know if it works, and if so, how it works, but my understanding is the Lima units are built for the ages. This one, and the lathe from which it was removed, have been mothballed for the past 10+ years, so I imagine it, at very least, will need to be emptied and replenished of lubricant, etc. Model 4 Type R3 Serial P1075 Frame 225 1800 RPM 220-440 volts 3 Phase Ratios of 4.15, 3.15, 1.85, and direct/1.0 Curiously, the one bit of info which I cannot make out on the I.D.. plate is that of the horsepower. The only digit I can make out appears to be a “5”. Literature for the Lima boxes is sparse, and the only reference I can find for a combination of HP *5*, 3ph, 1800 rpm, 220/440volts, four speed is a 7.5 hp model of post-1956 vintage. (Update - I've been alerted by one knowledgeable OWWM member that the motor is a 5hp model used on Oliver 20C and other machines. Many thanks for this bit o' info, Mr. Sheehan!)This assembly is definitely pre-1956 (round vs square-ish profile), but beyond that, I’m at a loss. For parts or a period restoration, this assembly could be indispensable. If it’s the one you’re looking for, drop me line, and make me an offer. If it sits in our shop another three weeks, I’m gonna open it up and take a look inside – can’t tell whether that’ll be a good or bad thing! $475 OBO |
